News: Penspen Selected to Present Two Papers at PTC 2025
Penspen has been selected to present two papers at PTC 2025. Drawing on 70 years of experience in the industry and our latest global projects, the technical presentations will explore key challenges and opportunities in the energy sector, with a focus on hydrogen integration and carbon capture technologies.
Paper 1: Challenges and Considerations for Hydrogen Integration in Natural Gas Pipeline Networks
Presented by Ben Cowell, Graduate Integrity Engineer, the paper will examine the challenges of integrating hydrogen into existing natural gas pipelines, comparing older and newer systems. It will focus on issues relating to material compatibility, pipeline integrity, and safety, providing insights for the safe transition to hydrogen-based energy.
Paper 2: Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage – What are the Real Challenges & Costs?
Presented by Toby Chancellor-Weale, Principal Consultant Engineer, the paper will explore the technical and economic challenges of CCUS, from capture to subsurface storage. It will also discuss key issues such as CO2 transport, facility design errors, and long-term storage risks, offering valuable insights for scaling CCUS projects.
