Project Background

A national gas operator in Switzerland, has awarded Penspen a contract to review and update the existing Pipeline Repair Plan for Gas Transmission Pipelines located in western Switzerland and ensure the repair plan aligns with the latest industry best practices, and incorporates modern technologies to enhance repair and emergency response capabilities. The pipelines form part of a larger gas network, which consists of approximately 600 km of pipelines and 50 delivery points to transport gas to distributors across Europe.

Services

Leveraging Penspen’s decades of technical expertise in pipeline repair and emergency response planning, our UK-based Asset Integrity team will review the existing repair plan and incorporate new industry insights and modern technologies. This also includes updating third-party supplier details, assessing lead times for crucial spares, and refining the strategy to address the most likely pipeline failure scenarios, as well as working closely with suppliers to ensure the revised plan is practical and adaptable for future needs

Result

The updated repair plan will enhance emergency response capabilities by optimising spare parts recommendations and streamlining repair strategies. These improvements will help minimise downtime and strengthen our client’s ability to manage potential pipeline failures. This ongoing project plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability of Switzerland’s gas infrastructure and reducing the potential for pipeline incidents.
