Emergency Pipeline Repair Strategy (EPRS) Support for a Turkish Pipeline System and Associated Facilities
Enhancing Emergency Preparedness and Operational Resilience for a Natural Gas Pipeline
Project Background
Penspen has been awarded a contract to review and update the Emergency Pipeline Repair Strategy (EPRS) for a major onshore and offshore natural gas pipeline system and associated facilities in Turkey.
The pipeline forms a critical part of an international gas corridor, linking key gas reserves to multiple regions across several countries. Operational since 2018, it spans numerous provinces and plays a vital role in enhancing energy security and supply diversity across Europe.
Services
Penspen’s UK-based asset integrity team will enhance the pipeline’s emergency response capabilities by developing tailored repair methodologies, optimising technologies and spares, and consolidating strategies for onshore, offshore, and above-ground infrastructure scenarios. The team will provide technical solutions to address challenges related to inspection, isolation, and repair in areas prone to seismic activity, landslides, and other complex crossings, to ensure uninterrupted operation of this strategically important energy corridor.
Result
The project draws upon Penspen’s decades of expertise to deliver clear strategies to enhance our client’s emergency response, isolation, and defect repair procedures. Complimented by a collaborative workshop held at client site, Penspen will optimise techniques like hot tapping and plugging, enhanced spares management, as well as identifying key challenges to reduce repair times and improve operational readiness and efficiency for the pipeline system.
