A Day In the Life Of an Account Manager
In our “Day in the Life of” series, we continue to acknowledge the diverse skill set and talent our employees bring to the day-to-day running of Penspen.
This month, we meet Rachel Williamson, Assistant Manager, Enterprise Asset Management. Rachel is based in our Middlewich office.
Name: Rachel Williamson
Role: Account Manager, Enterprise Asset Management
Team: Asset Management
Office Region: UK
Hi Rachel, you work with a wide range of departments, helping to serve both Penspen and our clients, how do you affect change?
During my time at Penspen, I have made it my priority to learn and understand the many aspects of how the company works and how each department serves each other, ensuring that I am proactive in offering support and solutions to any problems or issues we face and working collaboratively with the team around me.
What skills are required to be successful within your role?
I think you need to be a good communicator on all levels, methodical, confident and conscientious. You also need to be resilient, as the environment we work in can change quickly so you need to be able to work under pressure and make decisions quickly sometimes.
How do you see your role evolving over time and with industry changes?
I am hoping that my role will help bridge the gap we have between what it takes for the teams out in the field to deliver the work and the expectations of the clients.
What is the most enjoyable thing about your role and what advice would you give to your younger self?
I enjoy working at Penspen and what we can deliver to both employees and our clients. We provide a support network and a service to day-to-day life that the majority of people would be completely unaware of.
What I would tell my younger self is, to be less self-critical and remember that we don’t have to get everything perfect all the time and certainly not the first time.
